Extra information1780Many Ancestry trees claim that Dorcas "Knickerbocker" was the 1st wife of James, and that Ira was their son. Wrong. See Dorcas Knickerbocker Sissen in this tree.
Extra information1808Crawford County PA is remote. The number of young male Knickerbockers who suddenly materialize in Crawford census in 1840-1860 exactly matches the James entries in 1820/1830 census. Not proof, but strong circumstantial evidence.
