Joseph Turkeltaub
(11 Nov 1921 - 5 Apr 2006)
Joseph Turkeltaub, died peacefully at home after a long illness on Wednesday, April 5. He was born on November 11, 1921 in Stopnica, Poland, to Abraham and Esther Turkeltaub. His parents, four sisters, two brothers, and 30 immediate family members did not survive.
Joe soon became a U.S. citizen, and loved being an American. He loved reading, the arts, and loved to travel around the country and the world. He spoke several languages, and had friends in many other countries. He was a history enthusiast, and audited classes at Walsh College. But more than anything else, he loved his family the most. Joe is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara; a son, Mark of Canton; daughter, Esther Brody of Columbus; grandsons, Aaron Turkeltaub of California and Matthew and Evan Brody. Nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss him dearly also survive him. Masonic services will be conducted at Temple Israel on Friday, April 7 at 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rabbi John Spitzer officiating. Interment is at North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Oakstone Academy (school for children with autism), 5747 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
