Jacob Turkel's possible ancestors.
Beryl was born in Podwoloczyska which is today in Ukraine. His death certificate lists his father as Jacob Turkel. The website turkel.org says a possible father for Jacob could be Mordechai Turkel b. 1795, d.1835 or 1875. And that the possible root of all or most of the Jewish Turkels might be Jakob Munian b. 1640-60, d. 1680-1720, known as "The Sepharadi of Krakow." His son was Salmo ben-Jakob Munian ha-Sepharadi, aka "Terkl," b. 1675, d. 1750, captured by Turks when he was a child in 1682 and refused to be converted to Islam. Salmo's son was Perez ben-Salmo Turkl b. 1710, who adopted his father's surname of Terkl. There is also reference to a man named Yitzhak Tirkel from Lvov who was killed while on a trip in May 1596, from a Hebrew book named Masat Binyamin written in Krakow in 1602, reprinted 1775, 1832, and 1924.
From wikipedia: Lvov, Lviv, Lwow, and Lemberg are names of the same place in western Ukraine.
