Obituary: William Turkle WALCOTT, Iowa #45;- William E. Turkle, 85, Walcott, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center - West Campus, Davenport. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Walcott Fire Department or to the Durant Ambulance. Mr. Turkle was born on April 16, 1917, in Sherman, Kan., the son of Will and Bonnie Bryant Turkle. He married Bertha C. Kruse on Nov. 27, 1940, in West Liberty. She preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2001. He and his wife had farmed starting in West Liberty and most recently they farmed 400 acres northwest of Walcott until retiring in 1985. Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Frett and her husband, Wayne, of Bennett, Marlene Arp and her husband, Rudy, and Ruth Turkle, all of Walcott; sons, Wayne Turkle and his wife, Penny, of Durant, Dwight Turkle of Bettendorf and Merle Turkle of Charlotte; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Ross Turkle of Coos Bay, Ore.; and a sister, Beulah Sayers of Independence, Kan.
