André Kaminker is a French Jewish translator, of Polish origin. His wife is Georgette Signoret (1896-1984), originally from Provence. Their eldest daughter is the actress Simone Signoret (1921-1985). He is a journalist at Poste Parisien, where he works with Jacques Paul Bonjean. In 1934, he made a simultaneous translation of Hitler's speech at Nuremberg. In 1940, he joined Free France and became a speaker at Radio Brazzaville. He later became chief interpreter at the Council of Europe. He participated in the creation of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), of which he is president.
