Myra Turkel Peterson Distinguished attorney, a 'woman of many talents' Myra Turkel Peterson, 73, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015. A burial will be for family members only, while a celebration of Myra's life will be held on May 3, 2015, from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Clubhouse, Southwyck Village, 1 Carriage Drive, Scotch Plains, N.J. Born in Newark, N.J., raised in Union, N.J., and having graduated from Rutgers Law School, Myra enjoyed a distinguished career as an attorney, culminating in her election to chair of the Family Law Section of the NJ Bar Association. A longtime resident of Harrington Park, N.J., Myra became a beloved pied piper to numerous neighborhood children with whom she shared arts and crafts projects before moving to Scotch Plains, N.J., several years ago. She was a woman of many talents and interests with a love of quilting, gardening, and the NYTimes crossword puzzle. She is survived by her loving husband, Clifford; sons, Jonathan (Alexis) and Jared (Xiaxia); sisters, Rita Selesner (Leonard) and Jane Rosenthal (Ken); her much-beloved grandchildren, Jack, Luke, and T.J., and nieces and nephews. To honor Myra's memory, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Atlantic Home Care and Hospice, 465 South Street, Morristown, N.J. 07960.
