Joe Mack Sullivan

Mr. Joe Mack Sullivan, 75, of Hamburg died Sunday at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Mr. Sullivan was a native and life long resident of Hamburg and he worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation as a Forester in the Berea District for 45 years until his retirement in 1995. He was an active member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Promise Land Cemetery Association and spent many hours doing volunteer work in the cemetery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney B. & Velma Stell Sullivan and a brother, James E. Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Gulledge Sullivan; a son, Jimmy Mack Sullivan and wife, Johnette; a granddaughter, Wendy Sullivan Hale and husband, Cody, all of Hamburg; two great-grandchildren, Gatlin & Jace MacRay Hale; three nieces, Debbie Sullivan Philips, Patsy Hawthorne King and Libbie Hawthorne Ledford, one nephew, James Alfred Hawthorne and extended family, Emmitt, Faye, Travis & Linda Wallace. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Reese & Rev. Curtis Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are Norval Lee Cecil, Jack Shell, Eddie Corder, Ralph Parker, Jeff Foster, Lynn Rothwell, Buck Tumlison and Hugh Lewing. Honorary pallbearers are I.G. Riley, Glynn (Poe) Carpenter, Roger White, Clifton Tucker, Johnny Mack Nolan, Juan Rabb, David Sawyer and Dr. Charles Hicks. Visitation will be 6-8 Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Cemetery Association, 318 Ashley 131 Road, Hamburg, AR 71646.
