Thomas James Haerb, 62, passed away Sunday, April 1 2012. A local entrepreneur and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, James was born in Chicago and raised in Hattiesburg Mississippi. He was a graduate of Devereux Preparatory School in Victoria, Texas, and served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman and recruiter. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Brantley Haerb; daughters, Traci Haerb Parrish and husband David, and Amy Denise Haerb; a sister, Andrea Thornton; grandchildren, Alyssa, Justin, and David Haerb; and a niece, Kristine Dunkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mildred Brenn Haerb and in-laws, Edmond and Bobbie Ellen Brantley. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 starting at 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visiting will resume Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church starting at 10:30am until funeral services beginning at 12:00 noon conducted by Rev. David Buss. Burial services with military honors will begin at 1:30pm at Port Hudson National Cemetery, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Steve Bernath, Guy Cheney, Rob Garrison, Justin Haerb, David Parrish, and Luke Thibodeaux. James was a man of great faith, a wonderful witness who never met a stranger - he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
