Margaret Florelle Howell Gilbert was born December 26, 1922 at home in Field Store, Texas.
She graduated from Waller High School in 1939 and married Olen Gilbert February 22, 1948.
Florelle was very active in the Waller community. For many years she played the piano and organ at Waller Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School and even was a camp counselor. Florelle was active in Eastern Star and in the Lioness Club. She and Olen had 2 children, Shirley and Brian and supported her husband and children in their many activities. Florelle took an active interest in her grandchildren. Over the years she enjoyed reading, playing with them including croquet, baseball and 42. And she enjoyed cooking their favorite foods.
Florelle was preceded in death by her husband Olen and her parents Alma and Scott Howell and her sisters Dorothy Lloyd and May Leigh Howell.
She is survived by her son Brian and daughter-in-law Kathy Gilbert and her daughter Shirley Eplen; grandchildren Robert Gilbert and his wife Andrea, Gary Gilbert, Wendy Eplen, Wes Eplen, Kevin Gilbert and Lee Eplen and great-grandson Drake Gilbert. Her family was her pride and joy.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm at Canon Funeral Home 1420 Farr Street, Waller, Texas 77484.
Memorial Services will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2 pm at Terrace United Methodist Church 1203 Wirt Rd. Houston, Texas. Pastor Allison Cambre and Pastor Tammy Heinrich will officiate.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Alsheimer's Association 2242 West Holcombe, Houston, Texas 77030-2008.
Florelle lived to be 91 years and 26 days old.
