Doris E. Wallingford

Doris (Wallingford) Gates Busalacchi, 91, died on April 30, 2007 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Wallingford and Flossie Maude Abercrombie. She was a third generation Texas teacher and both of her children are fourth generation Texas teachers. She taught school for over thirty years. She taught at Ysleta Grammar School, Zavala, Austin High School, and the American School in Japan. Her teaching career included the fourth grade, seventh grade, and eighth grade. However, most of her years of teaching were at Austin High School where she taught Spanish, history, and government. She came to El Paso in 1928 and attended Crockett, and Austin High School. Her degrees were from the College of Mines and Metallurgy and Texas Western College. She was always an avid student of history and government. She was a member of Phi Alpha Theta Historical Society and a charter member of the El Paso Historical Society. Memorial Service: 3 p.m. on May 18, 2007 at the La Luz Baptist Church; arrangements: Alamogordo Funeral Home; Cremation: PCS.
