NoteMay 1870Moses applied for a selection licence in May 1870 over an area of 121 acres bounded now by Oban, Wonga & Warrandyte Roads (then known as allotment 31B).
Note1873By the time Moses wanted a lease in 1873 he had erected 132 chains of post & rail fence and he lived in a dwelling of four rooms made of slabs & sawn timber, measuring 31x13 feet in all. Unfortunately only 1 acre had been cleared of tree stumps which was insufficient to qualify for a grant or lease and Moses was relicensed in January 1874
News Pub (ind)31 May 1873the Argus reported that "George Simpson, aged 21 years, living at Nunawading, was admitted to the Melbourne Hospital yesterday in an insensible state. He was assisting to put some horses into a paddock, and while he was fixing up a slip-panel, one of the horses made a rush to get out, struck the slip panel, and knocked Simpson down, injuring his head. Moses Dickson, aged 32 years, who was with him, was also taken to the hospital, suffering from a cut on the chin, caused by the same accident. He was attended to and discharged"
Note1878In order to make improvements to the property he borrowed 120 Pounds from the Colonial Bank on mortgage loan at 12% interest. His grant was finally issued in 1880
