Extract from The Singapore Free Press and Mercantile Advertiser, 11 January 1934, Page 2:At Lynchmere Parish Church on Dec. 16 there were wedded Philip Frank Pitt, of the 1st Welch Regiment, and Rachel Marion, second daughter of Lieut.-Col. W. J. P. Hume, C.M.G., and Mrs. Hume, of Brinksway, Lynchmere, Sussex. Lieut.-Col. Hume was appointed th the Perak Civil Service as long ago as 1888 and after playing a distinguished part in suppressing the Ulun Selangor Riots in 1902, he became successively Auditor General Commissioner of Trade and Customs, and Resident of Perak. He joined the Royal Sussex Regiment in 1914 and did well in the War.Extract from: Malaya Tribune, 24 January 1934, Page 13
At the village church of St. Peter, Linchmere, Sussex, England, recently, Miss Rachel Marion Hume, daughter of Lieut.-Col. W. J. P. Hume, C.M.G., former British Resident of Perak, and Mrs Hume, was married to Mr. Philip Frank Pitt, only son of Mr Vernon H. Pitt, M.A. and Mrs Pitt, of Elm Gables Shottermill. The bridegroom is an officer in the 1st Welch Regiment. at present stationed at Aldershot. Among those present at the wedding were Sir George and Lady Maxwell.
