Posted by Georgeann Morekas on the Facebook group, Amykle-Sklavohori-Mahmoutbei-Godena-Peristeri Village History Group, April 11, 2021My grandmother, Georgia Demas Karangelen, was born in Amykles, May 27, 1905. She, her sister Vasiliki and mother Dimitra (nee Makris), departed Greece in 1906 with husband and father Nicholas Demas and traveled to OH. A sister, Stavroula was born in OH and died as an infant in late 1907. Yiayia's brother, George, was born in OH in 1909. The family returned to Greece in 1911. Great-grandfather Nicholas and his daughter returned to the US in 1915. "Vasilo" married George James Stamatikis of Brokers in the US in late 1918. Dimitra, Georgia and George travelled to the US with Annitsa (Adrianos) Arbes in 1920. The Demas' were reunited in OH. In 1921 my grandparents were married (info in obituary). Dimitra and Nicholas Demas returned to Greece in 1922. Dimitra passed approx 1936 and Nicholas 1939-1940 timeframe. Memory eternal.
