Costas, Mary G. Mary G. Costas, age 91, devoted, wife, mother, aunt and friend died of natural causes Sat. Sept. 17th. Mary was born in Washington D.C. on April 2, 1920, to Dan Gotses (Olympia, Greece) and Celia Gotses (Sparta, Greece). She married Anthony "Tony" Costas in 1942 and moved to Dallas in 1950. In 1961 they opened the "21" Turtle Club, one of the finest supper clubs of the time. Mary was always known for being well dressed and "ready to party". She said, "Age is a number and hers was unlisted". Mary worked for the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Convention Bureau, for over 25 yrs. She was a long time member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Daughters of Penelope, and the John L. DeGrazier #881 Order of the Eastern Star.
Mary is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Brothers Dan Gotses (San Diego, CA), Roy Gotses (Dallas, TX) and sister, Jean Maugeri (Bonita, CA). She is survived by her daughter, Denise Costas- Oradat (husband Cecil), Mansfield, TX, and son, Nick Costas of San Jose', Costa Rica, 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Anthony, 1 great-grandson, Aden Nicholas, and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks goes out to Katie Martin, the staff at Senior Care Lake Pointe, Hospice Plus and her "angel" roommate, Eva McNichol, who help make her last days bright. Trisigon will be held Tues. Sept. 20 at 7pm at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, at Alpha and Hillcrest. Funeral services will Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10am at the church followed by burial at Sparkman Hillcrest, NW Hwy, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or the Susan B. Koman Foundation.
