Obituary

SAVANNAH - Eileen Hammock Carellas (Yiayia), 95, died peacefully in the calm of the morning, 27 June 2014, in Hospice Atlanta Center. She was only in hospice for 2 days and is now reunited with Tony (Papou), the love of her life for 75 years. They first met as a waitress and soda jerk at the original Leopold's. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hammock of Belleville, GA, Yiayia is survived by her son George & daughter-in-law Michelynn (Mike) Carellas, Gina Carellas & Marina Miller, Tommy & Kara Huff, Aaron & Mallory Lembo, Alex G. Carellas & Ruth Cetchovich, Paul & Sally Hammock, Coule Carellas, and Rhonda Barrymore. There are also great granddaughters Rebecca, Tyler, and Jordan Huff as well as many wonderful, loving nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Bobbie Brooks became a special member of our family as her friend and caregiver. Yiayia enjoyed such a wonderful life of fun, laughter and love among friends and family. Her warm smile was what everyone first noticed, but that was only the initial hint of her greatness. She had a generous, loving heart usually showing her love through cooking - well known for her sour cream cake and cheese straws.
