The name Maltsiniotis means the man from Maltsina (today called Mellisa). A village near Gythio. Unknown when the family from there went to Mystra. (Agio Ioanni).
In a newspaper I found an article about this family and confirms the Byzantine origin. So I believe that the family went from Maltsinato Mystra around 1350-1400 when Mystras became economic centre of Morea. The tower is subsequently. (18th century). Around 1780.
In a page of National Newspaper of the Government (Φ.Ε. Κ),in year 1838 we find Saranto Maltsinioti as a burgess (paredros) in the court of Nafplio. We find his signature again in the National Newspaper of the Government in 1859.
In Φ. Ε.Κ of 1846 we find the Jurors of Sparta. There are 3 family members. Dimitris, Nikolas and Vasilis Maltsiniotis. That means the family had political power back then.
In 1871 we find Nikola Maltsinioti son of Saranto in Nafplio. In the election list of the same year we have Dimitri Maltsinioti 72years old, Nikola Maltsinioti 57 years old and Panayiotis Maltsinioti 24 yearsold. Panayiotis is son of juror Vasili.
In 1898 three brothers from Sparta Panayiotis, Giorgos andDimitris Maltsiniotis create a war factory. Ammunitions.
