Born in Princeton, N.J., he was the son of the late Lt. Angelo Triandafilou Sr. and the late Helen (Costas) Uphoff. He was the adoptive son of Charles Uphoff of Doylestown. He was employed in the business intelligence department of Merck Pharmaceutical Co., White House Station, N.J., for 25 years before retiring in 1996. He was a graduate of Trenton State College with a bachelor of science degree in computer science and was a member of Kappa Sigma Kappa.
