The elementary school kids used to tease my uncle George (Konstantinou) as being "tourkosporos”, meaning as having turkish seeds or roots. This is because the Pakiotis family apparently originates from a Turkish kid from the village of Pakia in Lakonia (it was inhabited by Turks). That kid was stranded in our area during the revolution of 1821 and switched religion. He became a Christian, and he adopted the last name of Pakiotis....Gikas A Hardouvelis...
