| Note | 5 Feb 1885 | On 5 Feb 1885 James was charged with embezzling the Sydney Soap Company of a total of 6 pounds 14 shillings. He was described in the Evening News as a respectably-dressed man and a commercial traveller. He was found guilty and gaoled for 6 months on the 10 Feb 1885 (released 8 Aug 1885) | | ||
