Scott Russell Hayes
(8 Feb 1871 - 6 May 1923)
After instruction at the White House, Scott Hayes was educated in Fremont schools, Green Springs Academy and Western Reserve University and the Scott Manual Training School of Toledo, before entering Cornell Univ. in the class of 1890.
He was a businessman with the First National Bank of Fremont, the Thompson-Houston Electric Co., later the General Electric Co., Railway Steel Spring Co., and the New York Air Brake Co.
He was in a shipwreck in 1919 off the coast of Peru which affected his health until his death.

"The news of Scott Hayes's sudden death fills all who knew him with grief. He was all that is fine; of splendid presence and winning face: a man of the world in the best sense of that phrase, with that something which successful men of large affairs and influence acquire; gifted with great charm of manner, warm-hearted, generous, courteous, tactful: a man with countless friends. As his brother Col. Hayes said of him yesterday, " the finest of the fine".
