(15 April 1669 - 30 August 1740)
DEATH: Also: given as Cocalico, Lancaster, PA

Witmeyer file:
LORENZ was born in Kallstadt, Germany and was confirmed at the age of 14 in the Reformed Church in that town.
LORENTZ came to America with his wife and three children sometime before 1731. They are found for the first time in Pa. in Rev. John Casper Stoever's "Records of Pastoral Acts at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Holland, Lancaster Co., Pa." LORENTZ and MARIA ELIZABETH were sponsors at the baptizisms of five children.
LORENTZ and his family first settled near New Holland, and in 1735 purchased 100 acres of land in Lampeter Twp. It was 1 mile north of Strasburg and extended from the Pequea Creek north to the Rockvale Road. Present day Bowman Road runs north and south down the center of the tract.
As a member of Heller's Reformed Church, in Upper Leacock Twp., LORENTZ agreed to help with the support of the minister. "The Reformed Congregation of the Berg Kirch promises to contribute annually to a minister's fixed salary if one is sent to them ----8 pounds and 25 bushel of oats. 16 Feb 1740: LORENTZ HERCHELROTH, Michael Albert, Michael Weidler and Johri Leyn."
When LORENTZ died in 1744 his Will stated that his oldest son John Heinrich should receive all of LORENTZ'S property. In turn John Heinrich must pay Valentine and JOHN 12 pounds each out of the estate.
Conrad Weiser had a hand in executing LORENTZ'S Will (Will-W-135-1744) and he saw to it that the Will was recorded in Philadelphia instead of Lancaster Co.. Many people did not trust the new courts in Lancaster to conduct their business, preferring the older Philadelphia court.
