pg. 720:"Jacob Brugh first county clerk and long an eminent citizen, had a horse-mill at Hartford City, for some years."
pg. 724:"The notice was issued and the election was held in June 1839 at the cabin of Andrew Boggs and the election board using Mr. Bogg's coffee for a ballot box. At this first election Jacob Brugh was chosen to serve as clerk, auditor and recorder.
pg. 794:"C.R. Cooley, was born in Bennington, Vermont, May 1, 1826, son of William & Jane Rainey Cooley, was united in marriage Dec. 6, 1855 to Miss Catherine B. Brugh, a native of Blackford Co. and a daughter of Jacob & Lydia Spangler Brugh. Her father being a prominent man in his day in this part of Indiana.
!CENSUS: 1850 Census, Licking Twp, Blackford, Indiana, lists Jacob, Lydia and family of 8 ch. plus Geo. P. Spangler, age 7 b. Ind. He was also the assistant Marshall for the 1840 Census for Blackford Co., Indiana. pg. 131.

!CENSUS: 1860 Census, Licking Twp, Blackford Co., Indiana did not list Jacob, but did list Lydia, age 50 yrs, b. Pa., with Andrew G. (20), Elijah (14), Mary E. (11), Jacob (6) these children all b. Ind.
!CENSUS: 1870 Census, Hartford City, Blackford Co., Indiana shows Lydia age 69, no children listed, home next to C.R. Cooley family. Source on 1860,1870 Census was Cecil Beeson, Sr., P.O. Box 1, Hartford City, Indiana, 21 Jan 1962.
!HISTORY: Jacob & Lydia first after leaving York Co., Pa., settled in Hartford City, Blackford, Indiana. Later we find their descendants in Nebraska. pg. 135, Bk 5.
