In 1792 or 1793 floated down Ohio River on a raft to present site of Louisville. Only three log cabins in area at time. Remained there a short time and moved to Nelson County, KY. Raised one crop and then moved to Shelby County.Residence

Therefore Mary's Rigg's lawful heirs, namely, Zebulon Johnson, Frances Wise, Elizabeth Gray, Richard Rigg, Mary Jane Rigg, and to Lydia Ann Riggs Heir three hundred dollars to be equally divided among them as they may severally arrive at proper age to receive, and my daughter Sarah Johnson to receive her three hundred dollars, and my daughter Elizabeth Bristow to receive the balance of her three hundred dollars, being one hundred and eighty-three dollars which when paid make my daughtersNote

Emigrated to Kentucky in an early day, when the Indians were so troublesome that a part of the company were obliged to guard the laborers while they built a fort or performed other work.Land
Obtained government land and accumulated over 500 acres. Planted orchards. Purchased a slave family which multiplied. A plague later killed all but four of the slaves. At his death William C. Collings freed these slaves.Endnotes
