William Cameron Mackay

Annie Butler was deaf as the result of a childhood accident. (Her high chair was knocked over by her sister when Annie was 5 months old.) She had partial hearing in 1 ear. Will MacKay was also deaf, and almost mute, as the result of scarlett fever at the age of 10 months. He had little use of his vocal chords He was a postal worker. They met in school. W. MacKay and A. Butler married in Howard Park Methodist, Later United, church. Both are buried in St John (Norway) Cemetery, Toronto. Annie Butler was a dressmaker in Belleville and Toronto. Tait lists Annie's birthday as 4 Nov 1879. However, Esther says Annie was a year older than Will, and she has Will's birth certificate for 1879.
