ARTICLE IN WARSAW, MO, NEWSPAPER"Uncle Lem Oaks, who lived two miles from Fort Lyon, died April 14, 1894, of "dropsy", a very eccentric man. He wanted his coffin made out of lumber he had bought and seasoned himself, and his wishes were carried out, the handles, trimmings, etc., being purchased in Windsor. He was a jovial, kind-hearted old gentleman. He's interred at McIntire Chapel Cemetery, Windsor Junction, MO, where his son, Henry, was buried a few months ago. He leaves a wife, two sons, and two daughters. It was said of him that he was the neatest farmer in the county. He was a Methodist."
**FAG member, Gary White, has found a headstone for Lemuel R. Oakes in the McMillian Cemetery, about 5 miles from the McIntire Chapel Cemetery.
