Stephen Hopkins
(Abt 1579 - Bet 6 Jun 1644 and 17 Jul 1644)
At the division of land in 1623, Hopkins received a six acre lot. He built the first wharf in Plymouth. House was at the intersection of Main and Leyden Streets, there is a plaque on the brick house which stands there now.
In 1638 he built the first house in Yarmouth then sold it in 1640 to Andrew Hallett, Jr.
Occupation: Had a shop in Hursley, Hampshire. Tanner and merchant
In 1637 Stephen was fined for allowing drinking and shuffleboard playing on a Sunday. In 1638 he was twice fined for selling beer at twice its value.
