Individual Details
Amy Wyllys
(1625 - 9 Jan 1699)
From Paper Pilgrims: Reflections on Life and Letters in Early New England by Katherine Grandjean: John Pynchon sent his wife Amy Wyllys from Springfield, Massachussetts to New London, Connecticut to be treated by John Winthrop, Jr. for illnesses that she had when she was about thirty years old. John Pynchon sent many letters to her that were then saved by John Winthrop. She survived the illnesses but was always a frail woman. The letters were often carried from Springfield to New London by hired Indian couriers.
