They bought land in Jones County Tx west of Stamford near Tuxedo in 1901. The Brought that year destroyed their crops. After a few years they moved to Weatherford Texas. In the 1930's Boob & Della came back to his old home east of Padgett where he died in 1940.
When Boob & Ann moved to Young County, much of the land was unfenced. Practically all of the livestock water supply was from creeks or natural slough. Most of the timber in the Padgett & Rabbit Creek area consisted of scattered live oak, elm & cottonwood along the creeks. Boob's renteres in the Padgett area had to go to land he owned on California Creek and get fire wood there because he did not want the Mesquite killed as he felt they were the only source he would have for fence posts. He said many times that when he came to Young County the grass heads would pull off on the saddle stirrups on the mustang type of horses they rode and it was not uncommon when he went to town in the wagon for coyotes and timber wolves to run his dog under the wagon. While he was living at Rabbit Creek, numerous fences were put up, roads were put along survey lines instead of across the country. Chain gangs were brought into the County to clear roads fill mud holes & make crossings on creeks.
He gave land for the school house that was erected on Survey 338 along side Rabbit Creek but was called California Creek School. Ann Furr gave the land for an all faiths tabernacle at Padgett on Survey 320. The tabernacle is till standing till this day.
