He came to Arkansas from Mississippi in 1879, and to Polk county about 2 years later. was a Justice of the Peace for Mountain Township, Polk County, a Mason, and member of the M.E. Church, South (taken from his obituary).
He served in the Civil War. Company B, 7th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Enlisted on the 21 Aug 1861 (age 18) and was sent to Camp Mason in Alabama.

Death
F. H. FURR DIES SUDDENLYProminent Citizen of Egger Succumbs to Heart Trouble at Home of Daughter.
F. H. Furr, one of the oldest residents of Egger, and for many years a justice of the peace in Mountain Township, died suddenly Tuesday evening at the supper table at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emmett Roby. He has been in bad health or some time, suffering with a stomach and heart trouble. Burial was at Egger Thursday. Mr. Furr came to Arkansas from Mississippi in 1879, and to Polk County about two years later. He was 66 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by nine children, five boys and four girls, all grown and married. They are: A. W. Furr, of Mena; Mrs. C. B. Leonard, Mrs. James Miller, S. L. Furr, C. P. Furr, Mrs. Emmett Roby, all of Egger; Mrs. Ross Ford of Mena; I. G. Furr of Waters and J. N. Furr of Womble. The deceased was a Mason of long standing and a member of the M. F. church, South.
