Mary E. FURR
(1842 - 1886)
Mary 'E.' Aldridge is age 38 in 1880 census = born 1842.
Which Mary E. could this be? I have to go back and check the Mary's, but recall there was a Mary E. born in the Furr line about 1842! AND (beleive)1842 is too young(late) to be d/o Henry & Rhoda.
I checked the films for Rowan and Cabarrus CO( no Stanley CO @ Sutro) and NO record of a marriage of a William (Bill) Furr to Mary Furr. There is a record of a William A. Furr to a Margaret Means in 1843, but that is the only William Furr listed. AND there is the record of Rowland Allmond to Mary A.B. Furr July 9, 1838 (=my Rowland Allmond to my Mary A.B. Furr) There were some other Mary's in the index but couldn't copy 'cuz my machine decided to get 'cranky' and then the library was closing. NOTE: None of the other Mary's would fit.
Believe the 1880 census I sent is Andrew and Mary E. Aldrige = Andrew and Mary E.Furr Aldridge HH. Will try to look up the 1870 census for further study.... but the 1880 census lists no other Andrew Aldridge HH in NC. The middle initial for Mary is an added plus. Her age is 38 in 1880. I know I keep repeating myself, but this age does not fit with the other children of Henry and Rhoda.... it fits the age of Andrew though, AND how old is Rhoda in 1842? 59 yrs old? Bit too old to be a MaMa-- don't you think? = Mary Furr, d/o Henry and Rhoda did not marry Andrew Aldridge! Mr. Albright was not a genealogist and did not check the records. Perhaps his first book was correct, as it makes a whole lot more sense when you look at the facts that we do know.
The way I see it, the Mary that married Andrew Aldridge has been eliminated from the possibilies as the d/o Henry and Rhoda Furr.
