Death

Betty Shook Hoffner, 91, of Cleveland passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at her residence. Born in Catawba County on April 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Kruger Shook and Rose Tucker Shook. Betty attended Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church in Mount Ulla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivey Lee Hoffner; sons Wayne Hoffner and Jerry Hoffner; and her daughter Molly Hoffner Thompson. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Terry Hoffner (Frances); daughter-in-law Cindy Hoffner; grandchildren Jeff Hodges, Branden Jarrett (Christy), Emily Hoffner Selves, Laura Hoffner Wiles (Chris), Carolyn Hoffner, Terry Lee Hoffner (Susan) and Alison Hoffner Clawson (Chad); great-grandchildren Cory Hodges, Lily Jarrett, Josh Selves, Avery Selves, Michael Wiles, Daniel Wiles, Brooklynn Hoffner, Katie Hoffner, Karley Clawson, Kennedy Clawson, Kallie Clawson; two great great-grandsons and her cat Rosie. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. Visitation: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Fellowship Hall, 11020 NC Highway 801, Mount Ulla, NC 28125. Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Darrell Norris officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
