Death

Earl H. Gross, 93, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. A memorial service, celebrating his life, will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 14, 2023 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., with a reception immediately following in the reception hall. Born in Greensboro on October 2, 1929 to the late Dewey M. Gross and Pearl Higgins Gross. He was a life-long member of Guilford Baptist Church and proudly served in the Navy Reserve. He worked with Bainbridge and Dance Well Drilling for over 25 years and then retired from Sherwin Williams after 20 plus years. Earl was a talented Artist who's paintings were both sold as well as given to special people in his life. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Inman Gross; a son, Spencer Gross; and his sister, Carolyn Graham. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Dewey Gross (Janet) of Helena, Alabama and Timothy Gross (Susan) of Chapel Hill, NC; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
