Death
LOCUST -- Ernest Rufus Hatley, 83, formerly of Locust, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He is the son of the late Thomas and Sally Smith Hatley and married to the late Gatha Mae "Dink" Hatley. Mr. Hatley was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Corps and retired weaver for Cannon Mills. He was a member of Locust Presbyterian Church, Locust. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, March 9, 2003 at Locust Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rev. Rick McIntee officiating. Visitation 7:00 to 8:30 PM Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Hartsell Funeral Home - Midland. The family will meet at the home of son Dana Hatley, 162 Cherry Tree Lane, Stanfield. Survivors include daughter and husband, Reba and Phil Burleson of Angier, NC, son and wife, Dana "Perch' and Valerie Hatley of Stanfield, NC, son and wife, Mike and Cathy Hatley of Stanfield, NC, brothers, Jack Hatley of Wendall and Vernon Hatley of Oakboro; and nine grandchildren.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, March 8, 2003
