Death

Funeral services for John Adams Grant of Duck Hill will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, at Duck Hill Baptist Church in Duck Hill, with burial following in the Duck Hill Cemetery. Dr. Chas Rowland will officiate the services. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Duck Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Grant died on Sunday, September 26, 2010, in Sharkey County. He was 76 years old. Mr. Grant was the son of the late Jesse Forrest Grant and Nancy Emmaline Adams Grant. He was a lifelong farmer and attended Duck Hill Baptist Church. He was a former Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Howell, and Floyd Grant. Survivors include his wife, Diana Sue Grant of Duck Hill; two sons, Kenneth Lee Grant of Duck Hill and Lewis Scott Grant of Brandon; six sisters, Mary Alice Crenshaw of Winona, Sue Blakely of Winona, Linda Lumbley of Winona, Bertha Blakely of Grenada, Jo Haynie of Grenada, and Ann Alexander of Silsbee, Texas; two brothers, David Grant of Grenada and Will Grant of Oakland; three grand-daughters; two grandsons; and a host of nieces and nephews.
