She was a classy lady who always dressed nicely, and had her hair done perfectly. She was a proud and self-sufficient woman, who lived out the remainder of her life in her own home. Her parents were William Johnson, and Nona (Southard) Johnson. William was a lumberjack in the Giant Sequoias. They had two sons, Bud, and Lee, and 4 daughters Florence, Thelma, Margaret, and Betty. Thelma graduated from Roosevelt High School, in Fresno California. Thelma's second husband was George Brown. George ran an auto repair shop in Fresno, California. George passed away in 1987. In 1955 Henry and Thelma sold their restaurant and bought a 95 acre ranch in Caruthers, California, where they raised animals, and grew grapes, peaches and cotton. In the summer months, this farm was home to many nieces and nephews who were able to enjoy the country life and the wonderful food that Thelma prepared. She was famous for her Armenian dishes (even though she was Swedish) and her homemade jams. Thelma and Henry were separated in 1957.
