Death

Rhonda Connell Hinson, 74, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at her home in Monroe. Rhonda was born September 19, 1949, in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Grady Lee Connell and the late Gertrude Connell McGee. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Tarlton. Rhonda was known as “Moma Rhonda” to many children of the community that she had the privilege of caring for over many years. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, cooking, planting flowers, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Tommy Hinson of Monroe; daughters Stephanie Byrum (Greg) of Monroe; Amy Medlin (Clint) of Monroe; Lisa Greene (Lemuel) of Monroe; Kara Furr (Chris) of Locust; and 11 grandchildren, Jared Byrum, Walker Byrum, Will Rounsville, Sarah Rounsville, Savannah Medlin, Elijah Medlin, Logan Greene, Lincoln Greene, Lawson Greene, Colton Furr, and Myles Furr. She is also survived by her brother, Neal Connell (JoAnn) of Monroe, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:30 am, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Hopewell Baptist Church, Legacy Chapel, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC. The funeral service will follow at the church at 11:30 am with the services officiated by Rev. Brian Austin. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Hinson family.
