Rites on Saturday for Mrs. W.J. Hobson“Long Time Citizen Of Madison County Died Thursday Afternoon”
Services for Mrs. W. J. Hobson who died at a Jackson Hospital of a heart attack at 1:30 Thursday afternoon, were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, May 14 at the home of her son, Mr. Clifton Hobson, four miles Southeast of Canton. Dr. J.W. Landrum, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Bond Stocks, pastor of the Church of Christ, Jackson, Miss. Burial was in the Canton Cemetery
Under the direction of the Canton Undertaking Company. Mrs Hobson was 78, born in Newton county. Mrs. Hobson moved to Madison County, when just a child and was a devoted member of the Baptist Church. She leaves eight daughters, Mrs. H. Brumberg, Ironton, Ohio; Mrs. Jack Champion, Belzonia, Miss.; Mrs. J.F. Furr, Jackson, Miss.; Mrs. Hugh Henderson, Madison, Miss.; Mrs. C.O. Young, Canton, Miss.; Mrs. Anna Chance, Selma, Alabama; Mrs. Lula Godwin, Pineapple, Alabama; and Mrs. J.C. Mabry, Canton, Miss. Three sons, W.J. Hobson, Ridgeland, Miss; Clifton Hobson, RFD, Canton, and Aaron Hobson, RFD, Canton. Two sisters, Mrs. Martin Stample and Mrs. W.W. Judge, both of Hickory and three brothers, Marion, Wyatt and Clifton Williams, all of Hickory, Miss. Pallbearers were her grandsons; James Chance, of Selma, Alabama; Robert Champion, of Meridian; Lewis Henderson, of Madison; Miron Mabry of Biloxi; Berl Williams, o Hickory; and Curtis Chance of Selma, Alabama.
