Notes
Death
Many friends of Mr. Herman Nitschke in the Needville Community were shocked when word came from La Grange last Friday that Mr. Nitschke died there at the home of his brother, Ernest, with whom he was visiting. A heart stroke ended his earthly life. Mr. Nitschke was born on December 19, 1869 in Texas. When 24 years old, he married Miss Emily Julke, who preceded him in death in 1930. Their union was blessed with 7 children, 4 preceding the father in death. Mr. H. Nitschke made his living by working in cotton gins, the last 11 years at the Horak's Cotton Gin at Needville. A few months ago, he went to his brother, Ernest, at La Grange where he died suddenly last Friday morning shortly after 5 o'clock, reaching an age of 67 years and just 2 months. He leaves to mourn his departure one son, Rudolph; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Kippers and Mrs. Agnes Drawe; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest and Albert; 3 sisters, Mrs. Bruegge, Mrs. Annie Witt, Mrs. Emma Huebel; and many friends. The burial took place last Sunday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home at La Grange, Rev. J.R. Vilt conducting the services. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the mourning friends and relatives.Rosenberg Herald, February 26, 1937
