Aubrey Porcher Almond
NORWOOD -- Mr. Almond, 72, of 12027 Old Aquadale Road, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at his home. Born August 7, 1934 in Stanly County, NC, he was a son of the late Travis Monroe Almond and the late Rosana Furr Almond Whitley. Funeral service is 2:00 PM Saturday, April 7, at Christ Episcopal Church, Rev. James Bernacki officiating. Interment in Aquadale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet at the home, 12027 Aquadale Road. Visitation was held Friday, April 6, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mr. Almond had retired from Stanly Fixture, Norwood, as a finishing room foreman. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Mr. Almond was a miniature car collector. He enjoyed yard work and he loved his church. Survivors include his wife, Jane Elizabeth Greene Almond of the home; son, Darren Almond and wife, Elizabeth, of Norwood; daughter, Athena Almond Foreman and husband, John, of Norwood; sister, Ethel Morgan Almond of Ridgecrest, NC; step-sisters, Edna Jewel Quick of Oakboro, NC, and Irene Almond of Albemarle, NC; step-brother, Garrett Whitley of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Amber Marbry and husband, Adrian, Lauren Almond, Rachel Almond and Jacob Almond; and great grandchild, Grayson Marbry. Memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 428 Pee Dee Avenue, Albemarle, NC 28001, or to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
