Death

LOCUST - Shelby Jean Brafford Adams, 69, of 1619 Meadow Creek Road, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at 10:30 p.m. at her home. She was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Stanly County. Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Gerald Baucom on Monday at 2 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church in Locust. Burial in the church cemetery. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the funeral. The family will meet at the residence. A member of Freedom Baptist Church, Adams was also a seamstress in the textile industry. She is survived by her husband, Howard "Sonny" Adams of the home; son, Stanley Drye and wife, Sherry, of Locust; son, Randy Drye and wife, Alisha, of Stanfield; daughter Cathy Roberts and husband, Hughie, of Cherokee; sister, Willie Boatwright of Locust; and grandsons, Dakota Drye and Ronnie Drye. She was preceded in death by father, John Fletcher Brafford; mother, Elsie Furr Brafford; five sisters; and three brothers. Special thanks to her sister, Willie Boatwright, and niece, Angie Thomas, for their loving care and devotion to our mother. Arrangements by Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland.
