Death

Mr. Billy Ray Gosnell, 71, of Charlotte, died Friday, December 13, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 16 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, with The Reverends Dr. Jack Knoespel and Laurie A. Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, Sunday, December 15, at the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road. Born June 21, 1931 in Spartanburg, SC, son of the late George Washington and Mae McMillian Gosnell, he grew up in Swannanoa, NC, and then served in the US Air Force. Mr. Gosnell was a car salesman for 35 years, 20 of those years with Discount Auto Brokers. He was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church and its Epworth Sunday School Class for many years. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Doris Gaddy Gosnell; one son, Keith Gosnell of Virginia Beach, VA; three daughters, Karen Brewer and her husband, David, of Atlanta, GA, Kimberly Greenwald and her husband, Michael, of Nashville, TN, and Kris Furr of Charlotte; and six grandchildren. Memorials may be offered to the charity of your choice. The Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service is serving Mr. Gosnell's family.
