Death

SUNBURY — Barbara M. Brewer, 65, of 197 Tressler Road, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at Sunbury Community Hospital. She was born May 1, 1941, in Sunbury, the daughter of the late George Eckrod and Lillian (Mantz) Eckrod, who survives in Sunbury. She was married on Nov. 6, 1973, to Leonard Brewer, who survives. Barbara was a graduate of Sunbury High School. She was employed by the Sunbury Textile Mills from 1974 to 2002, when she retired. She was formerly employed at Rea & Derick Drug stores as a waitress at the snack bar and restaurant. Barbara was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury. She enjoyed visiting the folks on the second floor of Sunbury Community Hospital with her mother. She enjoyed the outdoors, ceramics, painting, drawing, dancing and spending time with friends and especially being with family. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Georgena A. and Joey Smith, and one son, Ronald M. Furr Jr., all of Sunbury; one grandson, Cory Furr; two stepgrandchildren, Kelley and Joshua Smith; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Eckrod; nieces and nephew, Jennifer Jones, Donald G. Jr. and Jo Peifer; eight great-nieces and nephews; aunt, Margaret Eckrod, and uncle, George Lenig, and many cousins. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Sonny Boyd Eckrod in 1968 and Donald G. Eckrod Sr. in 2006. Friends may come and visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. today, followed by a memorial service at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard Fangmann, officiating. Contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to the second floor of Sunbury Community Hospital, 350 N. 11th St., Sunbury, PA 17801.
