Death
Velma Stanley Payne, a retired examiner with Vanity Fair Mills, died Tuesday at a nursing facility in Butler. She was 95. The Clarke County native had been a resident of Jackson before moving into the nursing facility. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Arnell Payne of Jackson; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. services today at Peniel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.Mobile Register (AL) - Thursday, March 15, 2001
