Death
Services were held June 13 in the chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home for Mrs. William P. (Ruth) Furr of 3680 Lakeland La. The Rev. Eddie Pilgrim officiated. Mrs. Furr, nee Ruth Bethea, died June 11 at a local nursing center after a lengthy illness. A native of Heidelberg, she was a former resident of Wesson and the widow of William P. Furr Sr. who died in 1949. She was part owner of Hardin-Furr Furniture store and had been a resident of Jackson since 1949. Survivors include her son, William P. Furr Jr. of Jackson; a brother, C. R. (Jack) Bethea of Gulfport; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Bethea Rainwater of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Ted French, Tammy Etheridge, Tony Moses, Dick Porter, Bobby Hardin, Dick Brown, Dr. Bill Pontius and Jimmy Wallace.
