Death

Robert Lee Bates, age 91, of Little Rock, AR (formerly of Pine Bluff) went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 17, 2017. He was born August 4, 1925 in England, AR, son of the late John Bolen and Birdie Dell (Rutherford) Bates. Robert was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. On January 13, 1946 he was united in marriage with Elsie Matthews. He had a strong work ethic, worked at a number of jobs over the years and was self-employed as a salesman. Robert loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Assembly Of God Church where he would greet people at the door with a big smile and a handshake.
He was passionate about fishing and enjoyed camping and gardening. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Robert is survived by his wife of 71 years, one son and wife of Little Rock, daughter of Flippin, AR, grandchildren,and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings. Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 20,2017 at Trinity Assembly Of God Church in Little Rock, AR. Pastor Dewayne Manyard will officiate with Karla Brogan assisting. Interment will follow at Orion Cemetery in Redfield.
