Death
FLORENCE – Dorothy Derrick “Dot” Moseley, 86, died April 13, 2017, after a brief illness. For the last seven years, Dot enjoyed retirement living at The Lakes of Litchfield in Pawleys Island. She was born in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Frank Paul and Pearl Furr Derrick. She earned a nursing degree from Baptist Hospital Nursing School and her anesthetist certificate from McLeod Infirmary School of Anesthesia. She was a certified nurse anesthetist with McLeod, Bruce and Florence General Hospitals. She was a member and past president of the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She was a founding member of Cross & Crown Lutheran Church of Florence. Everyone that knew Dot, also knew of her many passions throughout her life. Her love for wildflowers, photography, arts and crafts, woodworking and genealogy. Her knowledge to share and to learn was endless. Her most precious gift in her life was her love for her grandchildren. She was predeceased by both parents and her brother Frank Paul Derrick of Joshua Tree, Calif. In 1977, her loving husband, Riley H. Moseley, Jr., passed unexpectedly. Today, on Riley’s 90th birthday, the two of them are rejoined. Survivors include their two sons, Riley H. Moseley, III and wife Elizabeth of Murrells Inlet, SC, and David B. Moseley of Elgin, SC; and four special grandchildren, Andrew Riley Moseley, Matthew Tyler Moseley, Glenda Michelle Moseley, and Amanda Nicole Moseley. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to Tidelands Hospice, 2591 N Fraser St, Georgetown, SC 29440, the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org, or a hospice or other charity of one’s choice.Endnotes
