Death

Mr. Reuben Thomas Stowe, age 78, of 2438 Walters Mill Rd., Providence, N.C., passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017, at his residence. He was born on February 9, 1939, in Danville, Va., to the late Thomas Stowe and Ruby Herndon Stowe. Before his retirement, Mr. Stowe worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed going fishing with his daughter and her husband at Smith Mountain lake, Nascar racing, and meeting with his buddies at Hardee's. Mr. Stowe was a very likeable person, and he never met a stranger. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Furr and her husband, Lee of Providence, N.C.; special "son," Ernie Wayne Jordan; and numerous cousins, friends, and family. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Duane Blevins officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Swicegood Funeral Home. Swicegood Funeral Service is respectfully serving the Stowe family.
