Notes
Death
Richard Orville Hamilton, Sr., passed away on Saturday, February 27th at his home in Kingman, Arizona, at the age of 72. He was born in Sedro Woolley, Washington, on December 21, 1943. Raised in Yuma, Arizona, he joined the Navy in 1962. In 1963 he married Sylvia Ann Clapp, who passed away in 2008 after 45 years of marriage. He is survived by his children Richard, Jr. (Mary), Lynda Green (H.L.), and Christine Furr (Tracy); grandchildren Courtney Dollarhide, Cody Jalbert, Audra Jalbert, Nina Hamilton, Hailey Furr, Evan Furr; eight great grandchildren; his sister Judy (Paul) Campbell of Yuma; and many nieces and nephews. In 1970 Richard became a Yuma County Sheriff's Deputy, having found his niche! His accumulated injuries took their toll, and Lieutenant Hamilton was medically retired in 1983 with tribute to his dedication, loyalty and professionalism. The family moved to Kingman by way of Laughlin, Nevada, and Richard continued his Mason membership in Kingman Lodge #22, where he served in several capacities and was Past Master of that lodge. He enjoyed building and hunting. He had a great sense of humor and an ability to tell stories that kept everyone laughing! His favorite Scripture was John 3:16. He will be missed – by family, friends, and his dog Hank. A celebration of his life was held at Sutton's Funeral Home in Kingman, on Saturday, March 5th.Published in The Yuma Sun on Mar. 10, 2016
