CADILLAC — Elnor Eve (Coffel) Wetherell, better known as Granny, passed away at her home in Cadillac on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.She was the fourth child of Harold William and Lennah (Olmstead) Coffel, born August 22, 1942, in Cadillac, Michigan. She graduated from Cadillac High School in 1960. She enjoyed berry picking, flower gardens, puzzles and working. She worked at Elias Brothers Big Boy, Safety-Mate/Four Winns and helped Wayne with cement work. She married Wayne T. Wetherell on December 27, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2010. They had three children. Cherrie Marie married Charles Park, giving Granny four grandchildren: David (Paige) Wetherell, Hannah (Johnny) O’Connor, Shellbey Stieg (Casey Cotta) and Spencer Park. Thomas Wayne Jr. married Candy Furr, giving Granny two more grandchildren, Jessica Murphy and Tierra Wetherell (Juan Delgado). Cindy Lou, her third child, passed away on December 17, 1998. Granny’s greatest pleasure came in December 2013 when her first great-grandchild, Aaron Alexander, arrived and again in October 2014 with the arrival of Paisley Rae. Granny has seven brothers and sisters: Mary (Charlie) Mishler, William (Susan) Coffel, Beverly (Dick) Fredell, Frank (Laurie) Coffel, Harold Jr. Coffel, Tim (Anne) Coffel and Marie Franklin. Her mother died in 1981 and her father in 1994. She also has 10 brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim (Betty) Wetherell, John (Sharon) Wetherell, Shirley (Don) Nolf, Gordon (Nora) Wetherell, Dave (Linda) Wetherell, Sandy (Ralph) Little, Barb (Chuck) Hubble, Kathy (Eddie) Mendez, Joe (April) Wetherell, and Mary Lou Hitzeman. Her in-laws, John and Mary (Stowell) Wetherell, preceded her in death in 1968 and 1969. She has numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, with Pastor Derek Carpenter officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Haring Township Cemetery in Wexford County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
