Death
Suna Lillie Morton Poplin, 102, of 24724 U.S. 52 South, Albemarle, died at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle.Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Reverends Mark Little and Yates Brooks will officiate and burial will be in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, Albemarle.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The family is meeting at the home of son, Joseph Poplin, 34887 Ellen Road, New London.Born Sept. 14, 1905, in Albemarle, she was the daughter of Joseph Monroe and Marceniah (Furr) Morton. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and canning. Mrs. Poplin was a member of Paul’s Crossing Baptist Church and was loved by family, friends and neighbors.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wriston Newell Poplin; an infant daughter, Rachel Poplin; daughter, Mildred Hartsell, wife of James B.; five sisters and two brothers.She is survived by two daughters; Judy (Poplin) Little of Oakboro and Lullie “Pat” (Poplin) Dick and husband, Reece, of New London; a son, Joseph Poplin and wife, Juanita, of New London; ten grandchildren, Annette Brown, Jimmy Hartsell, Teressa Pollock, Lisa Young, Tammy Hathcock, Todd Little, Tab Little, Kimmrey Shehan, Kelly Morean and Shane Poplin; 16 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N.
